Metal Structure Assembly Fitter (Assembly Shop)

A grade 3 metal structure assembly fitter must have initial vocational education and experience in the trade.

Duties:

• cleaning body parts and coil edges after hydraulic testing, preparing products for anti-corrosion coating;
• assembling, adjusting and testing medium-complexity assemblies and mechanisms and their bench work;
• marking before assembly and drilling, scraping, polishing and lapping medium-complexity parts and assemblies;
• press-fitting parts on hydraulic and screw presses;
• eliminating defects found during assembly and testing of assemblies and mechanisms;
• assembling complex assemblies and products with side and radial clearances set by drawings and specifications, under the supervision of a more qualified fitter;
• joining parts and assemblies by methods specified in the regulatory documentation;
• operating lifting equipment from the floor;
• slinging and securing loads for lifting, moving, installing and storing;
• mounting and dismounting test benches, assembling, adjusting and testing complex products under the supervision of a more qualified fitter.

A slinger-loader certificate and clearance to work with pneumatic and electric tools are required.
