Welder on Automatic and Semi-Automatic Machines

This job is for you if you have:

• vocational education and at least 1 year of experience in the trade;
• level 1 welding specialist certification;
• a slinger-loader certificate;
• clearance to work with pneumatic and electric tools;
• electrical safety group 2 clearance and a permit to operate gas cylinders.

and you know:

• the design of various automatic and semi-automatic welding machines, plasma torches and power sources;
• the basics of electrical engineering within the scope of the work;
• weld testing methods, grades and types of welding consumables;
• types of weld defects and how to prevent and repair them;
• how welding parameters affect weld geometry;
• mechanical properties of the metals being welded;
• how to read drawings of the parts being processed.
• The work includes: semi-automatic gas-shielded welding with solid wire of critical assemblies of slab and wedge gate valves, check valves and ball valves made of carbon and structural steels in flat, vertical and horizontal positions (weld categories 1–5); semi-automatic hardfacing of wear- and corrosion-resistant coatings on sealing surfaces of shut-off valves; automatic submerged-arc welding of circumferential and longitudinal welds (categories 1–4) on manipulators and roller beds using software; automatic hardfacing of sealing surfaces with wire electrode and flux-cored strip; manual TIG welding of drain pipelines of slab gate valves; repairing hardfacing defects by TIG welding; restoring part dimensions by hardfacing; removing weld defects by grinding or air-arc gouging; tack welding of parts and assemblies in all positions; cleaning welds during welding, back-gouging the weld root by grinding and cleaning spatter from areas next to the weld.
